The View, Sound of Guns & Lost City Soul – Music Hall – 05/04/11
Starting off prompt at 7.30 there were 2 support bands. The first Lost City Soul, were really rather good with a good look as well as sound. The second, Sound Of Guns, were heavier and hairier and perhaps not the perfect fit for supporting The View.
The main event was a proper old skool concert. The band walked on and the crowd went mental. There were sing-a-longs, crowd surfers, showers of beer, a couple of drunken chaps escorted out by security, and even – yes it’s true – a couple of cigarettes smoked. The Music Hall is often thought of as a more sedate, classical venue but it took the abuse well, and the slightly bouncy floor helped all of us give way to the throb of the music.
Much of the set was given to the new album but the old favourites such as Same Jeans did of course make their appearance. The View’s music is made to be loud and live so exceeded expectations built up by the album. And the lead singer is so cute I just wanted to put him in my pocket and take him home, but I didn’t as I know they have to finish their tour and bring smiles to many more understandably adoring fans. Stupid Girl.
