Beautiful venue damned with the shitiest sound in Aberdeen. Period.

I’ll always have a soft spot for it though cos it’s where I saw The Clash for the first time as a wee 15 year old loony.     New York Johnny     10/11/09

On Union Street so very easy to find. Handily placed for scoops in The Grill beforehand. Watch for the balcony and standing choices when booking tickets as this can make a lot of difference to the gig. I’ve seen a good few gigs here, probably the biggest venue in Aberdeen apart from the Exhibition Centre (*is sick*).  Bar staff are plentiful and quite quick which is handy if you come early to catch the support act(s). The sound quality can be very varied. I’ve seen four bands within a month and two were okay, good even, but on the other hand two were utter rank. Why does that happen? Surely there has to be a minimum quality output which can be found at the soundchecks? I remember one Scottish band speaking between songs and no-one around me had a clue what the singer was saying. It wouldnt put me off going, but I’d maybe have lesser expectations of an event sometimes.     Still Burning     10/11/09
